Presenting at ODTUG Kscope19
By Jay Chapman, Sierra-Cedar, Inc.
In this three-part series, we take a closer look at how to create an ODTUG Kscope session abstract, how abstracts are selected, and how presenters bring those abstracts to life during a session.
Part I: Writing the Abstract
Ah, October 4th. The day folks began submitting ODTUG Kscope abstracts. If you’ve been lucky enough to present at ODTUG Kscope or any conference before, you understand that coming up with a solid session topic and then writing a sharp, award-winning abstract with a catchy title is the key to success. You also know that finding a solid topic can be challenging, and writing that award-winning abstract can become an unfortunate afterthought because of other work and family life commitments. And don’t get me started on that darn catchy title!
In this three-part series, we take a closer look at how to create an ODTUG Kscope session abstract, how abstracts are selected, and how presenters bring those abstracts to life during a session. Download the full article.
Submit your abstract by December 5, 2018!

As customers move their applications to the cloud, it can be a challenge to adjust data flows for the new architecture. It can be confusing to select the appropriate tools required to support these data flows into and out of an organization’s EPM applications. Many times, these data flows incorporate on-premises and cloud data, in addition to the transformation of this data when it is loaded to or extracted from the customer’s EPM applications. I receive a significant amount of email traffic related to this topic for what seems like an infinite number of combinations or source systems and target EPM applications. Even when the combination of applications seems unique to a specific customer’s business needs, there are a number of common threads that permeate the discussion. Download the full article.
PBCS Summary Drill to Transaction – Peter Nitschke, M-power Solutions
So FDMEE\Data Management has had the ability to drill back to staging table for a while—and for specific sources (read: Oracle) back to the transaction detail in the GL. A great feature, sure, but not without its limitations. Specifically, you were limited to drilling only from the intersection where the data was loaded—notionally almost always level-0. Have you thought about starting a Meetup in your community but don’t know where to begin? ODTUG is here to help! If you would like to start a Meetup group in your city, ODTUG will provide support and reimburse you for the cost of an annual Meetup organizer fee. This is your opportunity to network with your fellow ODTUGers year-round and introduce other Oracle techies who live near you to ODTUG. We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to have ODTUG help you create a strong local network of peers.
