Meet the 2021 ODTUG Board
The ODTUG Board of Directors is a group of volunteers elected by the ODTUG membership to serve the community at large. Directors serve three-year terms and are your direct link to all things ODTUG.
Tim German - President
Tim has worked with Oracle tools since 1998 and is currently a director at Qubix, an Oracle partner focused on EPM/BI products. His particular area of expertise is in designing systems built on Essbase and the Oracle Analytics platform. In 2015, Tim was recognized as an Oracle ACE, and in 2017 he was recognized as an Oracle ACE Director. He lives with his family in Chicago.
Karen Cannell - Vice President
Karen is president of TH Technology, a consulting firm providing Oracle technology services, and an Oracle ACE. A mechanical engineer by degree (one of them), she has analyzed, designed, developed, converted, upgraded, enhanced, and otherwise implemented legacy and commercial database applications for over 25 years, concentrating on Oracle technologies. She has worked with Application Express since its Web DB beginnings and continues to leverage Oracle tools to build quality web applications for government, medical, and engineering industries. Karen is editor emeritus of the ODTUG Technical Journal, a 2015 Oracle Developer Choice finalist, 2012 ODTUG Volunteer Award winner, and co-author of Expert Oracle Application Express, Agile Oracle Application Express, and Beginning Oracle Application Express 4.2. Karen is an active member of ODTUG, IOUG, RMOUG, and NOUG.
Jake Turrell - Treasurer
Jake is a senior solution architect with over 23 years of experience implementing Enterprise Performance Management solutions. Jake began his career as a financial systems intern at Dell, where he administered IMRS Micro Control, the predecessor to Hyperion Enterprise. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in management information systems, Jake joined Ernst & Young’s Management Consulting practice. In 1998, Jake moved to Navigator Systems, where he rose to the level of OLAP practice lead. Since 2003, Jake has been an independent consultant focused on the implementation of Hyperion Planning, PBCS, Essbase, and related technologies.
Roel Hartman - Secretary
Roel began using Oracle RDBMS 5, Oracle Forms 2.3, RPT/RPF and Oracle*Case 4.5 a long time ago. For the past few years he has focused mainly on Oracle Application Express. He has been a speaker at UKOUG, OOW, Collaborate, ODTUG Kscope, and a number of local Oracle User Groups. Within ODTUG Roel acted as the APEX content lead for the ODTUG Kscope14 and ODTUG Kscope15 conferences and was elected a member of the ODTUG Board of Directors in 2016. Roel keeps an (APEX-related) blog on http://roelhartman.blogspot.com. In June 2009 he received an Oracle ACE award, and in August 2010 he was appointed as Oracle ACE Director. Roel is a co-writer of the Expert Oracle Application Express and Oracle Application Express for Mobile Web Applications books. He is a director at APEX Consulting in The Netherlands.
Danny Bryant - Director
Oracle ACE Alumni, Danny Bryant is currently a senior solutions architect at Snowflake. Danny serves as the vice president of the Georgia Oracle Users Group (GAOUG), on the board of ODTUG, and has been published in RMOUG SQL>Update magazine. Danny was also an adjunct instructor with the Oracle Academy, teaching SQL and data modeling throughout the US and Europe. Prior to his public sector work in Atlanta, Danny was a senior engineer with Andersen, LLP, where he focused on business process re-engineering for the hospitality, telecom, and call-center industries. He received a BS in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In his free time, he scuba dives, enjoys training in various forms of martial arts with his two kids, tweets from @dbaOnTap, and blogs at www.dbaontap.com. Danny resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his family.
Gary Crisci - Director
Gary Crisci is a senior financial systems leader and Oracle ACE Director with 20 years of finance and IT experience, specializing in Oracle EPM software. During his career, Gary has held various positions as a consultant and industry professional working for top-tier companies such as Siemens, Morgan Stanley, and General Electric. He is the EPM principal technologist for GE, helping to lead the company’s global EPM shared service deployment. Gary has an MBA in information systems and lives in Connecticut with his wife and two sons.
Jim Czuprynski - Director
Jim Czuprynski has nearly four decades of professional experience in his career in information technology, serving diverse roles at several Fortune 1000 companies before becoming an Oracle DBA in 2001. He has been an Oracle ACE Director since 2014 and is a sought-after public speaker on Oracle Database technology features, presenting often at Oracle OpenWorld, COLLABORATE, ODTUG Kscope, Oracle CODE events, Oracle Development Community tours, and Oracle User Group conferences around the world.
Jim has authored 100+ articles on Oracle Database administration, ML/analytics, and APEX since 2003 at databasejournal.com, IOUG SELECT, and ODTUG TechCeleration and has co-authored four books on Oracle database technology. Jim’s blog, Generally…It Depends (https://jimczuprynski.wordpress.com), contains his regular observations on all things Oracle and the state of the IT industry.
Heli Helskyaho - Director
Heli Helskyaho is the CEO for Miracle Finland Oy and an ambassador/spokesperson for EOUC (EMEA Oracle Users Group Community). Heli holds a master’s degree (computer science) from the University of Helsinki. At the moment she is working on her doctoral studies, researching, and teaching at the University of Helsinki. Heli has been working in IT since 1990. She is an Oracle ACE Director, an Oracle Groundbreaker Ambassador, and a frequent speaker at many conferences. She is the author of Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for Database Design Mastery (Oracle Press 2015) and a co-author of Real World SQL and PL/SQL: Advice from the Experts (Oracle Press 2016). Heli was listed as one of the TOP 100 influences of the IT sector in Finland in 2015, 2016, 2017, and again in 2018.
Neviana Zhgaba - Director
Neviana is a senior technical product manager responsible for defining the digital productivity strategy and analytics roadmap in the Finance Enterprise Performance Management space for GE Power by partnering with the business transformation leaders of the Finance Controllership and FP&A functions. Neviana holds a bachelor's degree and a master of science in software engineering from Fairfield University. She started her career at General Electric through the GE Digital Technology Leadership Internship Program. Neviana has held various management roles across GE Corporate, GE Capital, GE Treasury, GE Digital, GE Renewables, and GE Power, implementing global cross-functional solutions in the financial services space.
Veronica Snow - Executive Director
Veronica Snow is the executive director of ODTUG. She previously served as senior project manager for conferences of various associations, technology user groups, and higher education institutions. Her strengths include working with volunteers and boards, conference management, editing, and overall brainstorming and implementation of ambitious projects under tight time constraints.
