Speaker Bio: Liron is an Oracle ACE and a senior Oracle DBA with over 20 years of experience. Over the years, Liron has worked as a senior consultant with a large number of companies in various fields and managed an Oracle Professional Services Team. He is currently in Vancouver, BC, consulting with local and remote organizations. He mainly specializes in high availability solutions, performance, backup and recovery, and other infrastructure and application database areas. He is also a well-known senior instructor and lectures in Oracle courses, events, and forums.

Liron is the president of BCOUG (British Columbia Oracle User Group) and US events chair and IOUG liaison of Oracle RAC SIG.

Session Summary for Attendees:  It is well known that choosing the right datatype for columns is important. Every developer and DBA knows the basic datatypes and their meaning. This session will dive deeper into the different datatypes. What are variable size and fixed size datatypes? How much space does each datatype take? How are numbers represented? Which datatype is sorted faster? All of these questions and more will be answered in this session.
